With Kāpiti at the centre of major roading controversies, a debate on roading issues next week is timely.
The Road Ahead: How would you spend $30 billion?
Thursday 23 August, 6:30-8pm on at Wesley Church, 75 Taranaki St, Wellington.
How we move matters, more than ever before. With rising petrol prices, a growing population, and a need to cut our carbon emissions, New Zealand faces some big transport challenges. But are these also opportunities? Join us for an exciting evening on New Zealand’s transport future.
Professor Ralph Sims (transport expert for the International Energy Agency and Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) will set the scene, followed by our political panel with MPs Nick Smith (National), Phil Twyford (Labour) and Julie Anne Genter (Greens) to discuss their parties’ views on how we should invest in our transport future. The MPs will respond to some prepared questions on hot topics such as the Roads of National Significance, followed by further questions from the audience.
We hope the event will attract a broad audience with a diverse range of views. Please find attached a poster, which we encourage you to distribute to your members/employees. A high resolution version for printing can be downloaded here. Entry is by gold coin donation.
