MP for Mana Kris Faafoi is urging people to use the day to give their views on the controversial Kāpiti Expressway.
“People have until 5pm today (August 10)to put in a submission to the EPA on the proposed route. I urge those who are concerned to make their views known, said Mr Faafoi.
The proposed expressway route starts at the Northern end of the Mana electorate near MacKay’s Crossing and terminating at Peka Peka, north of Waikanae.
“I’ve been consistently opposed to this Expressway. In March of this year we heard it was going to cost $100 million more, and displace families. Late last year I accepted from 4000 local people a petition that opposed this Expressway. I said on that day that the message of so many people should not be ignored.
“I’m frustrated that the process by the Government has been so badly handled the people of Kāpiti want certainty and confidence around an enduring transport solution in Kāpiti.
