Local Roller Derby squad Whenua Fatales on show in Sisters League

Kāpiti/Horowhenua Roller Derby squad Whenua Fatales have put on a great show against home team River City Rollers (Wanganui)in their head to head clash.

The Whenua Fatales Roller Derby team travelled to Wanganui for their first bout against local team River City Rollers. With a sold out arena holding 500 spectators the Wanganui home crowd was a tough call for a team who had not played together before but the atmosphere certainly gave them the push they needed. In a superb show for the spectators the score remained tight throughout the bout with the lead changing many times – finally finishing with a crowd pleasing home team win of 93-89.
WFRDL consider River City Rollers to be their sister league so whilst the defeat was disappointing the team as a whole were pleased with their performance. Jammer Girlie SWAT said “it was a fantastic bout all of the girls from both sides performed exceptionally and the crowd seemed to love it. I’m glad River City won it means they’ll have us back for a rematch!”
A rematch in Wanganui has been agreed to with the leagues to confirm dates.
