This weekend is a great opportunity to do a bit of volunteer planting at Queen Elizabeth Park, alongside the Friends group and Greater Wellington Council.
All planting times are 9.30am – 12noon. Morning tea is provided. Please bring gloves and a spade if possible.
Friends of Queen Elizabeth Park secretary Denise Davis says the weather forecast for the weekend is good and she is hoping that a big crowd of people will come down to the Park to help plant along the Whareroa Stream THIS SATURDAY (28th) at 9.30 – 12.00. “Go to MacKay’s Crossing and follow the flags to the planting site. If you can spare a little time or a lot, your help will be much appreciated. Some spades and gloves are provided, as is morning tea.
“The work has been started, and with your help we will return this stream to a healthy and beautiful waterway for future generations,” says Denise.
Whareroa Stream – Enter at MacKays Crossing. The planting site is approximately 2km along the Whareroa Stream from MacKays Crossing and about the same distance from the mouth of the stream.
Another planting day will be held on August 12.
