Election signs in Kāpiti were among those targeted by political satirists who have added slogans to National Party billboards in a move to make them “more honest”.
A press statement from the sign alterers was sent out under the false name of Jo Henky, an anagram of John Key’s name.
The statement said stickers were added to billboards around the country in a “co-ordinated operation” overnight.
The group is claiming to have altered about 700 of the billboards.
The stickers read “the rich deserve more” and “drill it, mine it, sell it”.
About 50 people were involved in the operation.
