Guest Nights on the Kāpiti Coast and Horowhenua were up in January by 22.9% according to the latest Commercial Accommodation Monitor released yesterday.
There were 6,758 more Guest Nights in the region compared to this time last year. Kāpiti was up 14.5% and Horowhenua up 38.7%. Interestingly this is on the back of a good increase in December 2010 with Horowhenua up 11.3% and Kāpiti 11.7% compared to December 2009.
Nature Coast Enterprise Chief Executive Chris Barber says “it points to a successful, well targeted domestic marketing campaign and we need to acknowledge the support from industry that has enabled us to make that work.”
“I am especially pleased to note that these increases are in contrast to other parts of New Zealand. Guest Nights across all New Zealand fell by 2.3%. Our neighbours were also down with the Manawatu district down 7.5%, Porirua City down 7.5% and Wellington City down 6.1%.
In fact the Kāpiti-Horowhenua RTO region, comparing to the rest of NZ, had the second largest increase in total Guest Nights with only Auckland City attracting more.”
