Each year thousands of Kāpiti citizens turn out to commemoration services throughout the district.
ANZAC Commemoration Services to be held in Kāpiti on Monday April 25.
In Ōtaki the commemorations will commence with the parade falling in at the Ōtaki Memorial Hall at 5.45am prior to marching to the cenotaph for the Dawn Service which will commence at 6am.
In Paekākāariki Marchers assemble at corner of Ocean Road and The Parade; marshalled by Barry Timms at 8.15am prior to marching to the Memorial Hall at 8.30am where they will be welcomed by Adrian Webster, Chair, Paekākāariki Community Board. At 8.40 there will be a Wreath-laying ceremony then Prayer of remembrance and reading of the lesson by Rev. John Murray.
At 8.55am the Memorial Addresses will be read: Women in War Wickham Pack; Men in War John Porter.
Morning Tea is at 9.30am.
In Paraparaumu the Citizens Service commences at 9.20am when the RSA Parade and Supporting Services fall in. At 9.30am the parade marches to the Memorial Gates at Paraparaumu Domain. MC Gordon Strachan will announce the National Anthem and introduce the Mayor and speakers.
At Waikanae the Citizens Commemoration Service will be held at the Waikanae and District War Memorial Centre at 11am. Veterans and other groups will be falling in at 10.50am at Elizabeth Street before marching to the service. MC Don Moselen will introduce the guest speakers.
