Long serving KCDC councillor Diane Ammundsen took an electoral punt this year which has paid off well.
Ms Ammundsen has previously represented the Paraparaumu Ward for 21 years. Earlier this year she voted to do away with wards, arguing Kāpiti would be better off with all district-wide representation. She lost that argument, but having the courage of her convictions Ms Ammundsen shifted to the district-wide race.
The public responded by voting her their third choice and returning Ms Ammundsen for an eighth term as one of only three surving councillors from the last term – the others being Peter Ellis and Hilary Wooding.
