Having had the pleasure to serve the Waikanae community for the last six years I know Waikanae as a dynamic and fast growing community with its own particular needs, which must be safeguarded.
I have advocated for the electrification of the rail-line to Waikanae, the option to build the Western Link Road as a local road and to upgrade SH1, setting up the Menzshed and community garden. Over the last five years I am pleased with the accomplishment made as chair of the focus group restoring the old Waikanae Treatment Ponds.
I see Waikanae as a community that both young and old love living in. This means making decisions on your behalf that will ensure we have the core necessities of life, a great community atmosphere, travel is safe and easy, and a great environment to pursue outdoor activities. I am conscious these decisions will need to be affordable and sustainable. If elected one of the more challenging aspects will advocating for the best possible outcomes for Waikanae, given NZTA’s choice of expressway route.
With my husband and two primary school aged children I live at Waikanae Beach on a lifestyle block.
Jocelyn Prvanov is also a candidate for the Waikanae Ward seat.
