Kāpiti’s Greater Wellington Regional Councillor Nigel Wilson has advised extreme caution is required near rivers and watercourses in the Kāpiti region at present.
“There has already been some flooding at Te Horo beach and the Convent Road area of Ōtaki Township from the Waitohu Stream as well as significant surface flooding throughout the district.”
Mr Wilson said Greater Wellington’s staff were monitoring the situation as were KCDC’s operations staff.
“There is still a severe weather warning in place so caution is the sensible approach,” said Mr Wilson.
