Greater Wellington Regional Council chair Fran Wilde welcomed the crowd who braved the elements to attend a meeting at the Raumati South Memorial Hall on Sunday to discuss Greater Wellington’s Parks Network Plan.
Ms Wilde told the gathering Greater Wellington was looking to establish broad basic principles to apply across the board. She said it is important to protect the region’s bio-diverity and nurture local ecology. “We also aim to provide for as many interests as we possibly can.
“The people of Kāpiti have taken an active role in the process to this point and we are grateful for the community’s views on the Draft Plan,” said Ms Wilde.

Ms Wilde said submissions on the Plan close on July 23 and Greater Wellington will hold its hearings in August.
“We would like the Plan finalised by October,” she said.
