A Bumper Spring Party for Everyone
September 2012
Great crowds enjoyed last year's Paekakariki Bonanza.

Leading local performers are helping the Kapiti Coast celebrate Spring with a free community party in Paekakariki, at a historic Wellington Road villa Saturday 22 September, from 10am to 2pm.
Called the Paekakariki Bonanza, the party is a much anticipated annual celebration. This year it's a fundraiser to provide Paekakariki Playcentre, a cornerstone of the local community, with a new bathroom.
Performers include poet and storyteller Apirana Taylor (just back from touring in Europe), Tim Jaray of The Black Seeds and Holly Jane Ewans of Rosy Tin Teacaddy as new duo Hit-Man Dolly, baritone bluesman Al Witham and French singer-songwriter Franck Monnet. For the kids the day kicks off with celebrated local childrens' group The Fat Teddies.
The Bonanza also hosts a celebrated bake sale, a bumper community garage sale beloved by bargain hunters, a bumper raffle, plant stall, and plenty of good food and drinks. Not to mention lots of activities for the kids.
"The Bonanza is a celebration of everything that makes Paekakariki a great place to share with others," says Playcentre co-President Mark Amery. "This is a chance to open our doors and host the wider community."
The Paekakariki Bonanza will be happening rain or shine.
Sound is being provided by local music stalwarts Moa Music and food by Pak'n'Save. Raffle prizes have been provided by Kingsgate Hotel Wellington, Fisherman's Table, Roots Hair Design, the Beach Store Paekakariki, Curves Gum, the Monteiths Bar, Pacific Tattoo, and others.
Playcentre is a New Zealand early childhood education institution, offering a fantastic environment for children to learn through play in a mixed age environment with their parents by their sides.
