Anna Leese to Lead Vocal Ensemble in Waikanae
16 June, 2017
Internationally acclaimed soprano Anna Leese-Guidi, leads the Takiri Ensemble.

The popular Takiri Vocal Ensemble will perform for the Waikanae Music Society on Sunday 2 July. Their concert in 2015 proved to be one of the highlights of that year and Kapiti music lovers are eagerly looking forward to their return.
Led by internationally acclaimed soprano Anna Leese-Guidi, the Takiri Ensemble is an exciting vocal group featuring amazingly talented New Zealand musicians: four opera singers and a pianist. Joining soprano Anna Leese-Guidi will be experienced mezzo-soprano Maaike Beekman who has performed widely in Europe and New Zealand. Tenor Cameron Barclay spends six months of each year touring the world as one of the famed "Ten Tenors" and the bass is Robert Tucker who appears regularly with New Zealand Opera.
Kirsten Robertson (nee Simpson) is one of New Zealand's most experienced vocal accompanists who has worked with such greats as Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Dame Malvina Major.
The programme includes solos, duos and ensembles by a wide range of composers. The first half of the concert will be devoted to the lieder of Schubert, with eight songs from the Schwanengesang Cycle, plus some duets and an ensemble. In the second part of the concert there will be music by Fauré, Ravel and English songs by Somervell, Quilter and Vaughan Williams.
Door sales will be available, or tickets can be bought at Waikanae New World, at Moby Dickens Books in Paraparaumu Beach, or at Lush Design Gallery in Raumati.

Concert: Memorial Hall, Pehi Kupa Street, Waikanae.
Sunday 2 July at 2.30pm
